Course Description

Introduction to Quechua language and culture. The course focuses on the Ancash region of central Peru, but also emphasizes the diversity of the Quechua language family—the most widely spoken Indigenous language of the Americas, with more than ten million speakers throughout the Andean region, from Colombia to Argentina. The course will provide students with basic grammatical knowledge and verbal skills for everyday conversation and of the Ancash Quechua language in relation to units on Quechua culture and history.
